Six months on from Pay360 signing its first eShop customer, the University of Hertfordshire, more and more Universities and Colleges have come onboard.

Bath Spa University, Mary Immaculate College and Imperial College have all signed with Pay360 in recent months. We therefore thought it would be a good time to look at some of the reasons why Pay360’s multi-channel payment and eShop solution is proving so popular amongst Universities and Colleges alike.

 

1. Created for customers, with customers

With Pay360 already providing multi-channel payment solutions to over 69 universities and colleges, they sought to leverage this opportunity to understand the existing functionality offered by current education focused online stores. By combining their findings with the existing multi-channel payment solutions on offer, they were able to create a complete turnkey solution that not only mirrored modern day user expectations, but also gave Universities and Colleges access to a wide range of new features from a single platform.  

 

2. Improved user experience

Pay360’s education customers spoke of their students and parents’ high expectations for a user friendly and slick web experience, working seamlessly on mobile devices and being able to make payments in a few simple clicks. The Pay360 eShop solution has enabled education providers to meet these expectations and provide the kind of online experience users are used to from their favourite retailers and banks, allowing them to book courses and events and make or schedule payments easily, via any website browser on any laptop or mobile device.

 

3. Offline payment options

Most of Pay360’s education customers were aware of online payment options being an important part of their online stores, however many didn’t realise that with Pay360, Universities and Colleges also have the option to offer offline payments - via phone or face to face payment channels. Being able to offer multi-channel payment solutions further supports their efforts to make payments simple for students and parents giving them more choice and convenience.

 

4. Event management and e-learning

Pay360’s education customers spoke about the ability to use their online store to do much more than just sell merchandise. They wanted a way to take payment and manage bookings for online courses, events and e-learning programs. The Pay360 eShop solution looks to solve all these requirements via the one platform. Not only can Universities and Colleges provide a user friendly way to promote, sell and manage registrations for their upcoming courses, events, conferences, and competitions, students can undertake online courses within an engaging and intuitive e-learning environment.

 

5. Guest check out and staff assistance

Allowing students and parents to purchase goods and services via an online store without needing to register for an account was also identified as desirable functionality. In fact, having to register for an account ‘mid-checkout’ is often cited as the second highest factor for shopping cart abandonment by online sources such as Statista and Baymard Institute. This functionality closely mirrors what traditional online retailers offer in terms of providing a seamless user experience and something Pay360 knew they needed to include within their eShop solution. However, going one step further Pay360 also wanted to incorporate user assistance into their eShop solution, which is why if a student or parent is having difficulty checking out, or is unable to get online, University or College staff can log in and help them complete the booking.

Whilst looking to solve many of the issues faced today from its education customers, it was also important that Pay360 continued to deliver operational efficiencies. And for Pay360’s eShop solution, this meant helping Universities and Colleges to not only setup and register students onto their events, courses and e-learning programmes, but also help them promote these courses.

 

6. Enabling promotional discounts

Continuing with the theme of a modern website experience, the Pay360 eShop gives Universities and Colleges the flexibility of applying discounts, offering coupon codes and limited time offers to run with promotions.

 

7. Integrated Marketing Automation + CRM (Customer Relationship Management)

A bespoke CRM is built into the eShop platform so that Universities and Colleges can track and report on student and parent information in relation to email communications and previous course applications or purchases. Combining this with marketing automation functionality and the ability to target individuals or groups of students with similar purchasing or application history, makes promoting courses and events much easier.
